• The Death of St. Jimmy
    JPOV (Jimmy)
I'm walking alone on this road that leads up To East 12th Street, but I have always referred to it as the Boulevard of Broken Dreams. I stop and look back on the dirt road that only a few other people know about. I sigh and turn back around and continued walking. A few minutes later I came to a stop in front of the bay. I looked across the street and saw the café Darren and who ever was with her at the time always went to, In fact Darren, Billie, and Mike were sitting in a booth in front of a window. They were all laughing. Darren was sitting closest to the window and I could see her easily, her black hair falling around her face. She looked absolutely beautiful. I never got to tell you how I really felt about you Darren, I thought. Absentmindedly I pulled the gun out of my pocket. I held the gun in my hand pointing downward for sometime thinking about what I was about to do.
"No I can't do this!" I shouted out into the bay to nobody really. "Jimmy do this to stop all of our suffering. Once and for all boy", a dark voice said in the back of my head.
"No I can't do this!" I repeated myself out loud. "I can't do this to my best friend." I added solemnly.
I looked back to the café window where Billie, Darren, and Mike were sitting. Billie wasn't there but all I could see was Darren and Mike talking. Really what should you care about what she thinks she's just a useless girl, the voice said. "The only reason I do care is because I love her. She's just such an extraordinary girl. She may have not always been there for me but still I pulled through afterward." I said aloud. "How could you love her? The most devastating things that we witnessed she was never there. After all you are the only Saint Jimmy the world will ever see and in fact the Jesus of Suburbia", the voice said.
I looked back at the window and saw Darren and Mike kissing. It was an odd site to see one of my few friends and the love of my life kissing. I was filled with rage and I kept hearing, She was never there for you Jimmy, echoing in my head. I turned away from the direction of the café and turned to face the bay. I felt tears pricking at the back of my eyes. For the last time I turned back to the café and saw that they had left. Darren and Mike were standing hand in hand. It gave me an unnerving feeling as I raised the gun to my head.
"Darren I'm sorry." I whispered to myself and pulled the trigger. I only had a few seconds until I would be gone forever and in those precious seconds I heard footsteps running towards me. The running had stopped and I saw the silhouettes of three tall people. I heard three sudden intakes of breath. I knew immediately that it was Darren, Billie, and Mike. The seconds were cutting closer and the moon had shifted. I saw Darren crying and all I know is that she looked so defenseless and vulnerable. Her black eyeliner was running down her cheeks with the tears falling onto the ground beside my head. The last thing I saw was Darren crying and that was the last thing I would ever see as my eyes closed shut. I only had a bit of hearing left and I could hear muffled sobs. I couldn't hear anything else anymore and I felt my body shutting down. I felt hollow and empty and nothing was left of me. All I know is that I am going where I really belong…
