• Ugh! I hate having to tuck in my wings when we go out! It’s so annoying! I un-tucked my deep red wings and fanned them out. They had a 7 foot wing-span and were a deep red with a black undertone. They usually got clean in the shower.

‘Crap!’ I thought, ‘I’ve got to start that night school now!’ Great that’s just freaking fantastic! I grabbed the black dress pants and white shirt that all guys were forced to wear, and got dressed. I put on the jacket that hid my wings best and un-tucked them a little. Ah! That felt better! I turned to the mirror and saw a tall, semi-toned guy with shaggy black hair. I combed through my hair while trying to decide why my friend Josh was coming with me to my new school. I don’t think he’s a bird kid. He doesn’t show the signs of being different. I mean, I remember there was a girl who was at my old school who showed signs. ‘Maybe she’ll be here,’ I thought absent mindedly. Actually now that I think back she did have weird eyes. And was super pale! I stifled a shriek, there had been a vampire and I didn’t notice! They were part of my blood line. I usually notice them no mater what! Ah, well, too bad. She was kind of cute!

Grinning I realized that to the human eye I was irresistible, that’s just in my blood. Do vampires feel that urge too? ‘God I hope so!’ I thought.

“Eric! Come down! It’s time for breakfast!” My mom yelled from down stairs.

Sigh. I buttoned the last button and braced myself for a lecture.
