Hii was tired. She had snuck her way to the final gate; the gate that led to the outer cities. She knew what lied beyond, but the thought of it made her jump in excitement. Once the guards began to change shifts, she snuck through the large buildings, and climbed her way over the wall.
Ever since she was a child, she had always been an amazing climber. She could climb anything; trees, walls, rocks, hills, buildings. This towering wall was no different to her. It simply took a minute of slight concentration, and then it was over.
    -------
Nanika shoved Loored aside and sprinted to the window, diving through the solid glass, and shattering it. As the ground grew near, she did her best to balance herself and straighten her body up, but this time, she slammed against the ground and collapsed onto her knees.
“Shoot…” She muttered as she stumbled to her feet. “He’s right… I can’t keep this up.”

Loored leaned over the window sill, and glanced down at Nanika. He knew that she would fight him for as long as she could, but that wouldn’t be long. Once the inner had taken over, she would be nothing more than a simple slave.
    -------
Drizzel’s eyes shot open. He could sense her growing close. Keeping his promise, he leapt out of his bed and ran into Rioko’s room, throwing the door aside.
    “Drizz-“Rioko began.
    “She’s coming.”
Rioko grabbed her jacket and ran out of the room, behind Drizzel.
    “Why is she coming here?”
“I don’t know, but she seems disturbed… weak, maybe.”
She stopped and gripped Drizzel’s shoulder. “Are you sure that you want to do this? I can’t protect you this time. I can’t protect myself this time…”
“If you don’t want to come, then don’t. I need to see her.”
    “Fine.”
    ------
Nanika knew that she was wandering into hostile territory. Every step she took, she drew closer to both the Lycan’s lair and Fortress City. If the guards of Fortress City saw her, she would be dead before the sun rose, and if the Lycans found her, she would be dead within a minute. What she was doing there, she couldn’t begin to contemplate. All she knew was that something was waiting for her.
    ------
In the distance, Hii could see someone making their way towards the gate. The first thought that came to her mind was vampire. She was close enough now to see the blood red eyes and the pale skin. No Lycan that she knew of had red eyes. The next thoughts were counteracting, each telling her the opposite of the others. But, ultimately, she chose to approach the shadowy figure.
    -------
Was that really a human approaching her? Could someone be that stupid? Then again, she had never taken the blood of a human, and nothing would change that. So, as the young girl drew near, she couldn’t help but fall to her knees in exhaustion, and watch the girl’s expression change drastically.

“Y-you’re a vampire…” Hii said quietly as she fell onto her knees before Nanika.
    Nanika simply nodded.
“A-are you going to hurt me?”
    Nanika smiled. “I should… probably… but no.”
    “Good.”
    “What’s your name?” Nanika asked.
    “Uh… people call me Hii.”
    “Hii? That’s an odd name.”
“Fits me, I suppose-“She stopped and looked up as Nanika got to her feet and held her hand out to Hii.
“I’m Nanika,” she said. “And, honestly, I think you’re an idiot for leaving the city.”
    “Haven’t you heard?”
    “Heard what?”
“The king has ordered the games to begin. It’s like… a…”
    “Hunt.”
“Exactly. They’re hunting Vampires and Lycans. And you being here is pretty idiotic as well.”
“I can take care of myself.”
    “So can I.”
Nanika smiled. “You know… you remind me of myself… when I was just a girl.”
    “I thought vampires don’t age.”
    “We don’t. I’m not a full blood, though. I was changed… against my will…”
    “Against your will?”
Nanika spun around and threw her arm out to protect Hii.
“What is it?” Hii asked quietly.
    “A Lycan… they’re coming.”
