• Another day like any other, bored and not sure what to do. Hanging around the house trying to just waste some time as usual was pretty much all there was to do. *Ding dong* I ran to the door and looked out the window to see four of my friends outside. I used my hand and brushed over my bangs quickly and then opened the door. I said hey right away and they wanted to hang out today simultaneously. So I thought "What the heck could be fun". Now I think I should have never gone. That day changed my life forever and years to come. Pushed the glass door open into a new world and took a step off my porch. Smiling and running along with them I didn't even know what was going to happen within a couple hours. Within an hour the sun would be on the horizon and things would near the worst. Darkness would prevail over the world, shadows at every turn, who knows what could be within those shadows. That is what I fear and wonder about every second of my life now. We ran down my drive way into the street and straight down the street to the woods. I never really went in the woods, but I've always heard stories; strange stories... People would go in and never be seen again. I heard once an ambulance and a few cops come flying down the road and wasn't sure what it could be. From my room I could see the red and blue lights flickering on my dark walls. It was almost as if it was a circus. The sirens were loud enough to wake anyone up that night. I jumped up out of bed and looked out my window peering down to the street from upstairs. One ambulance, one cop, another cop, another cop, something had to be wrong. I tried to just go back to sleep as if it was just another night where I'd awake and then realize I didn't have to be up yet. So I lay back down and for a few minutes just thought about what it could be. I thought the worst, "Is it a murderer, are the stories true, did something happen, a robbery...?" Then I jumped and fell right off my bed. Music just started to play really loud. I realized I fell asleep with my Ipod headphones on still. The days I actually still enjoyed music. Now I can barely survive with it. The next morning I woke up and heard from my Mom that someone at the end of the block was murdered. I got up, put my clothes on, and jumped onto my laptop. Instantly I went online to research more into the murder. Who knows, maybe my house would be next, figured I should look into what happened. There was a picture online of an axe wound to head and a report stated that the victim’s legs were chopped off. There were mass amounts of blood and not much evidence to be found. To track down the murderer would be impossible at this rate it sounded as if. As we got closer to the woods, everyone stopped running, but the person who thought of the idea to go into the woods. They ran straight up to the trail through the woods and we crept toward the woods regretting every inch of the way. We all heard the stories and knew what happened in there. Most of us didn't even want to think about going in there. Decisions were blaring through my head and I knew I didn’t want to go. After thinking over my thoughts and getting ready to say n-o, I heard a voice. “What are you a chicken or something?” They all said “Nuh uh…” and sprinted after him into the woods. I couldn’t be the only one to stay behind, they’d laugh at me. So I got pulled in with them as if they were gravity. Had me on a tight leash and wouldn’t let go. So at first it was fun, jumping over logs, jumping from rock to rock, ducking under branches, and just overall having fun doing who knows what. Turns and bends constantly, this would be impossible to run back through and come out the same side. I looked behind me as we stopped and saw the sun reaching the horizon finally. “It’s getting dark guys, I’ve got to go home soon.” Someone stated and then was replied to with. “Come on, I see this trail up ahead, and it looks really cool from here. I promise we’ll go home after this.” He said. I caught my breath and looked ahead at the trail. It had a big curve so I couldn’t really tell where it led to. But I thought if we’re finishing after this we should get going. “Fine… we’ll go” I said. He was excited now and waited a minute for everyone else to catch their breath too. He then ran right up ahead down the trail and past the curve. I sighed and followed behind a couple others. I looked around and noticed shadows creeping from the trees toward me and got a shiver. As I was running down the steep hill I stumbled and almost lost my balance, but caught myself at the last second. Turned the corner and that’s where it started.
