• It was a little chilly that day, but it wasn’t too serious to the point that she had to put her winter jacket on. Instead, she chose her favorite jacket, the one that she stared at through the store window for months, the one he got her. At first, she thought that he was someone else just a man who looked like him, but nonetheless it was enough to make her stop and look back. It was him. She watched him for a moment; he was standing next to a little shop as his girlfriend ruffled through all the items on the small table and listening to what the shop owner had to say about those items. Suddenly, he wrapped his arms around the girl and whispered into her ear. Her eyes closed briefly and she relished in the memory of the words he spoke to her that day. She could almost feel his breath against her skin and his muscular arms wrapped around her waist. She was wearing the same jacket that she was wearing that day so many years ago and it always brought back memories of them together. She watched him for a few seconds more before turning away from the man as his eyes came to meet hers. It was as if he was trying to tell her to move on, but that was something she could not do. She was afraid that if she met his eyes the next day he would begin to fade away from her memory and the next day after that and the next day. She couldn’t let that happen. She began to move her feet again and the scene that she was watching soon turned into a blurry memory in the back of her mind until the next time she strayed pass that little shop. Perhaps tomorrow she would visit the bookstore where they first met or the small apartment building he helped her find for her college. Or maybe she would visit the cemetery……… She didn’t know what she was going to do tomorrow, but she was sure by then she would have it figured out. As her thoughts of him faded away for another time and new thoughts of nothing that was important became known in her mind, she became another face in the crowd.
