• The night was cheerful, well, moreover because of the company i had at that moment, and thinking about that makes me sad. I wish I'd never gone to pick her up.
We rode down the streets with the breeze cooling our bodies, and I was very nervous with her behind me, but I could feel her warmth filling me, and that made me have this weird, smugass grin spread wide on my face.
"What will Mark say now?" I laughed at the thought.
"Hey, where we goin'??" I hardly heard her say.
"Ummm, I'm not sure really, but how 'bout the state fair?"
I felt her grip fasten around me, and suddenly thought that maybe it was wrong to be heading there...after all, it was a 50-50 chance.
"I'm sorry, should we go some place else?"
"No!" she replied, almost yelling, but i could feel the happiness in her voice and that made me smile, something I'd later ask her about, but sadly I never got the chance to do that.
The fair was awesome, and her eyes glittered with happiness. It was becoming one of the best nights in my life, and I hoped it became the most important one.
We did as much thigs as one could do, and we left the ferris wheel for last, with cotton candy for both, smiling. I slowly wrapped my arm around her waist and she gave me a shocked, but smiling look.
"Oh so daring...and it's the first date!" she said, shoving me softly, laughing.
"Oh crap, I've been discovered!" and I faked to be aggravated about it.
"Help! Now what shall I do? Conquer you with cotton candy? Great tactic..." and i gave her a serious, but smiling look.
"Oh shut up, silly!" she said, taking my hand and wrapping it around her waist again.
    "Better?"
"Yeah, I think..." I said, laughing.
"You think? YOU THINK??" she replied, eyes wide open, then shoved me again, smiling.
We got on the seats that were open to the sky on the wheel. The sky was covered in stars and they seemed to glitter in her eyes. She turned to me and caught me looking at her and I turned my eyes to somplace else nearby.
"What is it?" and her question caught me off guard. I'm sure she knew the answer to that, but wanted me to say it anyways.
"You want me to answer that..?" she smiled.
"Of course, why would I ask if not?"
Suddenly the ferris wheel jolted forward, resuming its movement, though faster than normal. I tried to not pay attention to it, and looked back into her eyes.
"Well, if i gotta admit something in my life, you're closer to heaven than angels themselves..." She smiled in response, and i saw the glitter in her eyes, and the music came back to my heart and mind, the one i'd made for her.
We leaned towards each other, but a voice caught us...a voice that i hated.
"Well well, what do we have here?" a voice that we knew well had a very angry tone, directly to us, standing there, with 4 or 5 more guys beside him.
"Oh great...my ex..." she said, and somehow my heart whent to the moon and back, and i looked at her.
"Get your eyes off of her you freak" he yelled out at me.
"Shut up James! You know that it was your last chance but you busted it! And I'm sick and tired of all this crap..!" she yelled out.
"For this??!" and he pointed at me. "For him you say it's over??"
"No James, you don't understand it do you? You screwed up too many times and i'm tired of it, of you..!" Helen looked at me and continued. "He's more than you'll ever be, James"
He looked at me angrily and called out "Helen, come here..."
    "No."
"Come here dammit!" and walked up to us taking her arm.
"Let go of her.." I stood up.
"Or..?" and he tugged on her. It took me a second to decide, but i lounged forward and punched him as hard as i could. He stumbled backwards, falling on a knee, but at least let her go.
"That was your ticket to hell..." and the other guys surrounded us. She had her back against mine and i looked around at all of them.
"Back off..." Another voice popped in. A group of men approached from one of our sides and pointed at James.
"You and your thugs leave them alone, we've seen enough."
James and his 'friends' looked at them, being more, and looked at each other.
"We'll solve this later" he told me, and all of them walked away.
I looked at Helen and took her hand, then looked up at the men and thanked them. After that I took her home. I didn't know what to think about it, and maybe things would be harder from then on, but i never thought they'd be worse than that, not even in my wildest dreams.
We arrived at her house and she gave me back the helmet, but her eyes were sad.
"Hey..." I don't know why i did it, but I raised her chin and layed my hand on her cheek, searching her eyes. "...Don't be sad."
    "I'm just...I'm sorry for that...James is such a jerk..."
"It's not your fault...it never was..." and i put the helmet aside on my bike. Tears suddenly started running down her cheeks and I found myself not knowing if to hold her or not.
"Easy..." and I pulled her close and hugged her for a moment, feeling her body shake as she cried silently. She gently pulled back and looked at me, leaning close to me.
I wiped her tears with my thumbs and leaned close to kiss her, but the door opened and her father called out to her.
"Helen, it's late, come in child!"
She pulled away and smiled softly. "Thank you..." and kissed my cheek.
I smiled and waited for her to enter her house, feeling a rush of emotions run through my body and I know I had one big smile and was all red, because when she looked back closing the door, she looked and laughed softly. Now that i remember that, i must've been something funny to look at.
I arrived home remembering all the things I'd done with her that day, the laughs, the playing, the rides...and parked the motorcycle beside the garage. A black car caught my eye and suddenly I remembered that there was a black car stationed out of Helens house.
I shrugged it off, since the car started up and left. Little did i realize the importance of those details right at that moment, but how could I have known?
Mark hit me up with a message later asking me how it went.
<All well till James showed up> and i frowned slightly.
<Her bf? Wait, you're going out with a girl who has a bf??>
<Dude, I thought that too, but then she said he was her 'ex'>
<Woah! Now he got his balls kicked! Tell me the details..!>
    <Tomorrow we'll talk, i'm wasted...so gnight dude>
and I crashed on my bed getting lost in my thoughts about that night, and the mess of emotions it'd been.
Well, maybe tomorrow would be a better day, but, truth is...that thought was totally wrong.
