• A young girl whimpered quietly as she huddled by the warm fire. Beautiful white feathers swirled around her, gleaming in the moonlight. This sounds like the perfect night in the country, but it wasn't; it was the complete opposite. "D-Daddy, please stop hurting the bird!!!" she cried, white hair hiding her face. "The dove never did anything to you!"

"You can starve as long as you like, but we're gonna eat. This is the onl' grub for miles, so this is goin' first." A rough, weather-worn old man hissed, more feathers flying. "An' if ya don' shut ya yap, you'll be next!"

"Daddy!" she cried, tears running down her pale face. Rage fueled her heart's burning coals, and she at last stood.

"Honey.." her mother called, but she wouldn't listen.. Another hue of feathers joined the first as they danced in the sky. The source of these feathers.. were the pure white wings that had sprouted from her shoulders.

    "Leave the animals ALONE!"

"Oh, heaven almightly, not again Yuki!"

Meanwhile, a boy stood gazing at the sky, a steady breeze ruffling his white hair. A fluttering caught his eye as it passed through his sight range, then out. Then back in.. He closed his eyes. "Maybe I just need to go to bed.." he muttered, but when he opened his eyes again, he nearly gasped. A feather had silently landed on his nose, it's white tip stained red. This wasn't from a normal bird, either.
