• 2 A Fateful Meeting
    (David; age 16)

I Love being in London by myself without my little brother and sister, Apollo and Artemis, always asking me what father was like. I could think clearly for once. I hate being home.

“You get back here with that money ye b*****d!” I heard a female voice yell. I looked around to see where it was coming from, and saw a girl around my age with red hair, green eyes, and freckles, like Maria, the little werewolf I played with once as a child, and a woman in a Hindu style dress, I could see past her glamor and what I saw was that her true form was that of a woman with blue skin and four arms.

Than the girl tripped on her dress.”Maria! Are you alright?!” said the woman with four arms, in a really thick Indian accent.

“Yes, Kata, I’m just fine, but I think the b*****d got away!” She had tears in her eyes,”How are we supposed to get that order iris bulbs without it?!”

So it was her, it’s Maria, and she hasn’t changed a bit since I first met her. I had to help her get that money back.

I followed him to an ally and yelled, “Hey! Ye should know better than to steal from someone, ye lowlifed b*****d!” Run at him, jumped in the air and kicked him in the head, knocking him to the the ground, then took the money and run back to try to find Maria and Kata.

It took me only five minutes to find them, they were in a flower shop, Maria was arranging a vase of roses for a display, and Kata was watering some flowers in the back.

My, has Maria grow to be a beautiful woman.

    (Maria; age 16)

I can’t believe that b*****d got away with the money, they never get away from me! Damn you Queen Victoria and the dress you approve of, if it wasn’t for the dress I would have caught him!

“Excuse me miss,” I turned around to see a handsome young man, most likely my age with long jet black hair tied back to keep out of his face, dark brown eyes, and slightly tanned skin, wearing a blackish-blue tailcoat. “Is this money yours?”

My goodness, he has a beautiful voice!

I looked at his hand and saw my velvet pouch I always put the money to buy new flowers for the shop in. “Why yes it is! Thank you so much!” He smiled at me when I thanked him. My lord, his smile makes my heart leap!

“You don’t have to thank me!” Oh, yes I did, I wouldn’t be able to get those iris bulbs for the shop if he had not gone to the trouble of getting the money back for me and Kata.

“My name is Maria, and yes I do have to thank ye, because I do not feel like being rude to my hero, and most of the time I do not give a care if I am rude to people, so you should accept my dearest thanks!” Now I am starting to get rude with him.

His smile got bigger and he started to laugh,”My, you are one spit fire woman. The man who gets to have you as his woman is going to be a lucky man.” No one has ever said something so nice to me before, they would always say that I am never going to find husband because of how rude I can be, I couldn’t help but smile when he said those kind words to me. “My name is David.” Why does that name sound so familiar?

“Why, thank David for getting the money back for Maria and I,” Kata’s sweet, gentle, accented voice filled my ears.

She is so beautiful, and without her glamor she is even more beautiful, with her midnight black hair, lavender colored eyes, and light blue skin, with four arms, I wish I was that beautiful. And today she was wearing her favorite sari that I had gotten her for her birthday.

“David, are you you looking for a job at all, young one?” she asked him. “Because Maria can’t always be the one going after the thieves, because she has to wear a dress like the rest of us women, and we do not need her tripping on it again,” she said all this with love and concern in her voice when most people would have said as if it were a joke, that was one of the many things I love about Kata, and why she is like a second mother to me.

“Yes, I would. I have always loved flowers, so it would be a good job to have,” David smiled that wonderful smile of his. If I get to see this every day I come to work, I will die a happy woman!
    ******

It was finally time to go home. David had left afue minutes before me, so I did not have to worry about him trying to walk me home. Humans can never learn of the bridge that connects London to the island where others like me live, creatures humans most likely would try to destroy.

I was almost to the bridge when I heard,”There she is, that is b***h from the other day!” Oh dear Lord! It is the bloody b*****d who tried to mug me yesterday, the one I beat the living daylights out of, and he brought friends this time, five of them!

I made a run for it, for I can’t take on six men at once. And that is when my bad luck kicked in, I tripped on my dress... again. Damn it, why can’t I wear pants like men do, than I would not have to worry about this!

I felt a hand on my shoulder, I was about to start fighting when I realized it was David, and he was trying to help me up.

After he helped me up, he grabbed my hand and started to run, and as we ran I looked back to see if the thugs were catching up with us at all, and they were. that is when David took a turn to the right and stopped.

That is when I noticed we are on the bridge. How did her know about the bridge. It cannot be. David is not human?!

“What are you, I know you are not human, you know about the bridge, so you cannot be human! So what are you?!” I snarled at him.

“You have to guess, as do I have to guess what you are my friend. My guess is that you are a Werewolf do to your long torso, big breasts, and the fact that you have no glamor,” he said all of this in a playful manner. “So, where do you want to meet tomorrow, so we can walk to work together?”

“The shop is going to be closed tomorrow, I thought Kata told you this already.” I do not understand why I was not mad at him for not answering me, but I wasn’t. I think I was too fascinated to be mad, and who doesn’t like a jolly fun guessing game?

“Well, than we can walk through London together, does that sound good to you?” he had that smile on his face again, that smile that makes my heart skip a beat.

In all truth, I like the thought of see him again, and getting to know him more,”Yes, that does sound jolly good to me. Do you know of the meadow by the river Acheron?”

“Yes, I used to watch my little brother and sister play in it when I was younger.”

“Then that is where You and I will meet from now on.”

And for the first time since Papa’s death ,I truly smiled.
