- As the tree line brightens with autumn colors, a cool wind blows across the leaves. It was a somber day in mid-October when I met her for the first time, her curly brown hair blowing in her face, her cheeks cherry red for the biting wind. She tries desperately to hold down her skirt as her scarf flails in the wind. Suddenly a blast of wind knocks her off balance and her scarf takes off for the trees. "No," she cries out. It gets stuck on a near by branch. Without thinking I rush over to the tree and quickly pull down the scarf. As I walk it back to her I notice how old it was, "it's as seen better years," I say under my breath. I run my fingers down it's intricate pattern, I notice a small tear. I hand the scarf back to the beautiful young girl. "I am sorry, I think the tree tore it a bit," I said to her with my head hang down to hide my red face. She quickly takes it from my hand and looks it over. "It is fine," she said " I can probably fix it." She wraps it tightly around her small neck, and holds out her hand, "I'm Bridget," she said with a smile across her face. "I-I'm Shiro," I managed to stammer out, as I turn away trying not to let her see how embarrassed I was. "Thank you for getting my scarf back for me, it holds a lot of fond memorizes," she said as the two of us sat on a bench near by. I listened to her whole story of how she got the scarf, and how it has been passed down for years. As I gazed into her eyes I lost myself. We were in our own world. Before I knew it the sun had began to set. "I have to leave," she said in a frantic voice "I'm sorry." As she gets up and turns to leave I quickly grab her hand and ask "will I ever see you again?" She turns back to me and with a smile on her face she says "Only if the fates allow it," and with that she ran off into the sunset, leaving behind a trail of tears. Later that very week I try looking her up, I found one her friends and she told me that Bridget had gotten into an accident, and has been hospitalized. Her friend gladly tells me were she is staying and I rush to her side. When I get to the hospital, the kind nurse tells me what room Bridget is staying in. As I get to her room my hand stops shy of the door, a million thoughts rush tho my mind. I hear a voice on the other side say "are you just going to stand there or come in." I open the door and I see her smiling face, and that same old scarf around her neck. "How are you doing," I asked just as nerves as the first day I meet her. "I'm fine the doctors say I can leave in about a week," she said with a smile, her cute face covered in small bandages. "Do you mind if I come visit you," I asked, my face bright red . "Sure," she said hiding her face in the scarf. For the next week I visited her everyday, sometimes I would bring flowers and other a simple apple. We would just talk for hours, getting lost in each others company . Before we knew it the week was up and we were dating, and ever since then I have never left her side. All thanks to that fateful day in mid-October. The day I had found the love of my life.
