Okay, so it's my second day into student teaching at my new placement. I can honestly say that I feel sorry for the rug-rats in my classroom. This teacher has no behavior management plan whatsoever and her idea of keeping the peace is to either have the kids stay in at recess or yelling at them. I keep waiting for that moment when her head does a complete 360 turn on her neck. I honestly don't know what to make of this teacher. I have bonded more with her students in the last 2 days I was here than she has throughout the entire schoolyear.
Admittedly, she is close to retirement and probably just doesn't give a flying monkey's butt anymore about whether or not she is doing a good job with the students and I can understand that part of her frustration stems from the fact that this particular school district has, over the last two years, greatly limited the freedom in what she can and can't do in her classroom, but there should still be ways for her to make a better classroom community between the students. It's all seatwork for them and little to no play time or time for them to share with other students and the teacher about what is going on in their lives outside of school. The whole scenario makes it look like we just don't care, when, in fact, we do. Or, at least, I do.
This new school is also out in the middle of Nowhere, New York. Seriously, it's lots of farms, a couple of graveyards, three churches and a small scattering of residential areas mixed in amongst the farms. One of these days I'm half-expecting to see a cow meander out onto the road...except I don't think any of the farms in that area raise cows...
I really don't know what to make of this placement. I guess it's just a matter of "wait and see".

The rantings of a slightly insane pixie
As the title states, these are the rantings of a slightly insane pixie. Beware dragons, witches, gargoyles, and, of course, look out for those darn fairies! (I should mention that they tend to take the strangest things...)
