What?! Um...no...no they don't...unless there's something about cups that I don't know about and no one has bothered to inform me of within the 25 years of my existence. I was floored when one of my second graders today, during math, when asked, stated (quite confidently, I might add) that cups measured length.
We just finished two lessons on cups, quarts, pints and liters, all of which the children showed a firm mastery of by the end of the second lesson. Unfortunately, it seems that either this particular child needed a physical prop to remind him what it was cups measured, or his brain was sucked out of his head during recess by some sort of recess zombie, because he was totally clueless, even after I held up a cup for him to see. I opt for the brain-sucking recess zombie. I KNEW there was something hiding in those fields in back of the school!

As the title states, these are the rantings of a slightly insane pixie. Beware dragons, witches, gargoyles, and, of course, look out for those darn fairies! (I should mention that they tend to take the strangest things...)
