• The snow fell softly to the ground
But the world did not care
And there was no one around
To help or aid, the child there
This child who lay in the snow,
A letter clutched in their hand,
Which had long since gone stone cold.
The letter was to Santa, and it held a plea
A plea something we couldn't make
A plea for something no one can give
    Even when this Christmas Season
    Rolls on in.
It was a plea for peace on earth
And for everyone to have peace of mind
    No toys or other things
    Just the simple thing
    That no one can deliver.
Sure, we'll paste on smiles for a while
And everyone will think we're merry and cheerful,
But inside we know the truth.
We don't care about family or life,
We care about gifts and fights.
We care about food for our bellies,
Though we make it seem very merry
This holiday is just another reason,
Why humans are never truly happy.

So this one child died, out in the cold,
With a wish in hand for so many more.
May the world be filled with hope,
    the letter read,
May it be filled with hope for everyone
    That's what it said.

We'll cry and say we'll do our best
    But yet nothing ever changes.
    So this Christmas Day,
    I'll pray...
That we all find hopes of our own someday.
