• Upon a time there was a beautiful little girl who had extraordinary powers. Which is what made the evil witch scared, because she knew the little girl had the power to stop her range of terror. Then the little girl turned three. The evil witch cast a horrible spell that erased her memory, but the evil witch realizing that wasn’t enough to stop the little girl. The evil witch stole her powers. There was a catch the little girl could regain her lost powers by finding the Old One. The Old One is the oldest good witch alive, and she was indestructible as long as she remained in her castle of love and beauty. In order to prevent the little girl from seeing the Old One the evil Witch sent 30 of her most feared dragons to watch the castle for all of time.
For ten long years the little girl who was named after a rare and very beautiful Flower. She had grown up believing that she was an ordinary girl. Now coming to her 13th birthday she started to have a strange feeling that she was more than an ordinary girl. At first this feeling was hazy but as the days went by the feeling became more and more clear. One-day Rose set off toward the south listening to her heart very carefully. There was another feeling going through her like a river, the feeling seemed to be made of a song that she had never heard before. Even though it had no words, it still seemed to say, “save the Old One save a fellow friend”. The thing was she had no friends and she did not know anyone who was called the Old One. Rose still liked the song though it made know sense.
On and on Rose went feeling lost for the first time in her life and she felt lonely. The reason why Rose had never felt lonely before was that she lived alone for as long as she could remember. For ten days she walked on and on till Rose came to a wasteland.
When Rose came to it, it just broke her heart to see a land that at one point in time must have been a great beauty. Rose saw other animals that looked like how she felt. Then out of the blue all the animals had a look of fear in there eyes and faces. Then they took off, when Rose looked up she saw what made all the animals run. For there were about 30 or more mean and fierce dragons circling the wasteland. Rose climbed a really tall tree, and saw a lovely castle in the middle of the wasteland. Down Rose went to the ground, and started to thinking about how she was to get past the dragons and still be in one piece. Then a thought struck Rose; there was a secret passage way behind a big rock that led to the castle. Off Rose went toward a big rock on the side of the mountain. The rock was extremely heavy but it was moveable. When rose got inside some fire on the walls light the way to the castle, then the rock slid back into place with ease. Down the passageway Rose went for four days. Rose ate nothing but the things she had found on the trail to the wasteland.
Finally Rose got to a wooden door, so very carefully she opened it. On the other side was staircase leading up to what seemed like an endless tunnel. Up the stair- case went Rose. When Rose got to the top she found herself in the most beautiful place she had ever been or for that matter ever imagined in all of her 13 years of being alive. At the base of a really old drooping willow, was an old woman that looked as if she was as old as the tree itself. As Rose approached the old lady. The old lady opened her eyes. Then she motioned for Rose to come to her. When Rose got to her, she said you are the only one who can defeat the evil witch, and bring piece and happiness back to the land.
When I have nothing with which to defeat a witch, what do I do now? Said Rose.
You don’t have your powers? Asked the Old One.
What powers? I’m just an ordinary thirteen-year-old girl.
It is true then, that the evil witch has stolen your powers and erased your memory. Listen to me, at the very top tower, there is a book, read the first page, out loud and see what happens. Now you must hurry, for if the evil witch has control over the land for ten years, this once beautiful land will remain as a wasteland.
What does the book have to do with restoring the land? Asked Rose.
Please just read the first page, now go before its too late. There is a door behind this waterfall.
“Okay, but when I come back you are going to have a lot of questions to answer,” said Rose.
“Fine just hurry,” said the Old One. When Rose went behind the waterfall she did see a door. Though Rose could not tell whether it was made out of water or wind. Whatever it was, it was solid and opened at her touch. When the door opened it revealed another long staircase with the same lights, and all Rose could do she was moan and groan. Up Rose went higher and higher till finally rose got to a room that had at least 50 or so staircases. Then as if knowing that Rose did not know were to go the lights seemed to point to the fourth door to her right. Thank goodness that it was a short one passageway. Just as the old lady had said, right in the middle of the room, there was the book just floating in air.
As Rose entered the room to have a better look. The book seemed to say hurry, read me out loud the evil witch is coming. Rose quickly ran to the book as if understanding the urgently. Opened the book to the First page and read. Scit, scat, scudu, dout. After Rose had read those four words, there was a flash of light, and before Rose even new what was going on, she found herself being flooded with memories of her lost past, and not to mention her lost powers.
When Rose opened eyes she was in a white cape and hood outfit. Then as if sensing Rose’s confusion the book said, everything that the evil witch had taken from you has been restored.
“Well that would explain a whole lot,” said Rose. “Now do I just wait for the witch to come?” asked Rose.
Oh no you mustn’t, you must keep her from entering the castle. Out the window went Rose. To Roses surprise she was floating. After a while, trying to figure out how to steer and make herself go. Rose went out to find the evil witch. After an hour or so Rose found her. And the evil witch saw her. There they went casting spells and stuff. After three hours realizing that they were both equal in power, and that it was pointless to continue their fight. Rose started talking to the evil witch on good things. The evil witch’s clothes where like Roses, but they were black instead of white, but very slowly they turned gray then as white as Roses.
The Old One came and said, “Now peace has truly returned to the land. For the land to reclaim its rightful beauty, you two have to agree on peace.” “Okay, Rose, what do you say, friends.” “Yes, Friends.” said Rose. Their hands touched for a handshake. There was a burst of light, and then all was beautiful. Now there are a few things that needed to be done.
    Like what, asked Rose?
“You will need to finish your training in the magical arts.” declared the Old One. “As for you Violet (the once upon a time Evil Witch) you need to learn on how to take good care of this land.” said the Old One.
    “But why?” said Violet.
“I am getting to old for this job; it is time for me to go into retirement.”
After the training was all over with Rose and Violet they forgave each other for what they did in the past, and had many years of fun watching over the land. Rose finally found out of why she had no parents and why she was named Rose. It was because one day her parents found out that the Evil Witch was after her, so they put Rose on a dragon. And told the dragon to take Rose to the Old One.
Well, on the way there the Evil Witch caught up to the Dragon, and made Rose fall into a patch of desert Roses. Now the Desert Rose has a legend that if anyone could touch a Desert Rose and live to tell the tale. They could listen to the melody that the heart plays, and will be able to tell who is their true love. The Evil Witch left Rose to die. For three years after that Rose lived on her own until the day the Evil Witch found out and went out looking for her. That’s the end of the story for now! And they all lived happily ever after!
    THE END
