• Farewell

Allow your heart to wallow in haze, in darkness and hatred! Allow the kiss I’ve placed on your lovely, pale, cold lips to sink into those dying veins of yours. Think about what you’ve done! Isn’t this what you wanted? To lie down and peacefully suffer only once more in this cruel world, and only once more pour crimson? Take my tears upon your skin and feel the agony of the loss you are bringing me. What have you gained?

Can’t you hear me pleading the words I know will never survive in the cold December night? My breath lingers near me, visible in the bitter air, echoing my thoughts uselessly back to myself.

I have left for myself only what life you have remaining, which is fading by second. Your eyes practically kill me, half open, yet staggering. Although you must know that my pain is unimaginable, you smirk for yourself, and know you only have to deal with the last few minutes. This is your moment of glory.

I hold your freezing hand, kneeling on the concrete next to you. Desperately hoping no cars drive up. The hospital would prove useless now. Your eyes close silently, and all the remains of your life swiftly slip away. The wind sings a dying lullaby in the air that is only heard by me, and your deaf, dead body.

    You’re gone.

Farewell, I’ll miss you too much to tolerate the world, but I must wait until I realize my loss to act upon my grief.

Farewell. I’ll keep the only thing I have left of you and hold it dear. The slight cerise you left on the razorblade. Your razorblade. Your beautiful death on a string. You lie peacefully in a pool of your insides. It makes me sick. Not because of the large quantity of blood, but because the thought that you left me this way. You broke your vows of love.

Now, your razorblade is beckoning me to use it, just as you did. Why not? All I had left was you. I somehow resist the callings, and set my gaze unto the sky. The midnight heavens shine blue, but in my eyes it might as well be black. Starless and lacking in any light at all.

My eyelids play pictures of you speaking to me through those gorgeous lips I just kissed goodbye. I peer one last time at your lifeless body, and watch it sit up, stand, and walk into the blackness of this night, leaving me alone in the cold December moonlight.

“Farewell!” My weary voice calls. “Farewell, my love!”
