• Mari sat contently on her swinging bench. She patted her brown and gold hair. She looked at her grass filled front yard. There were scooters, skateboards, and barbie dolls scattered throughout the ground. Mari sighed. She looked down at her feet that were buried in dirt. She stood up and walked onto the grass. She did this ALL the time. Or at least when she was angry. She thought the dew from the grass felt cool and relaxing. But for some reason, it wasn't feeling this way right now. She began to walk onto the sidewalk. She knelt down and started playing with crab grass. "MARI! COME IN HERE! PUT ON YOUR SHOES!" her mother yelled. Mari ignored her as tears trickled down her face. Why was it that she cried every time she heard her mother's voice. What was it about her mother that made her cry so much? Mari wiped her tears and walked inside.

"Hi. My name is Marina "Mari" Ramplol. Nice to meet you all" Mari introduced herself. This new school of hers...she hated it. Not only did she start in Late November, but she also started in 8th grade. I mean, what's the big deal, right? She started in SENIOR YEAR. That meant she knew no one, and probably never will. For some reason, that made her tear up.It was ALL his fault. It was her eex-boyfriend! PAUL. Maybe if their breakup {Paul's fault} wasn't such a commotion, she might have gotten to stay in Rendeo Country Day. But,no, Paul had to ESCALATE things. Paul had to LIE and say she KILLED HIS CAT. Really, what type of monster would make up that lie? Mari could hear it right where she stood. Her old classmates, in front of her, chanting 'CAT KILLER CAT KILLER'. If they were smart they'd know that Paul didn't even have a cat. So Paul really did break up with her. So Mari didn't want to go all the way with him. that didn't give him the right to completely lie about their breakup, did it?

Mari sat down alone at a table. She couldn't take it. The whole day all she remembered was 'CAT KILLER! CAT KILLER!'. She had planed to eat alone, at the farthest table away from the girls she assumed were the 'popular' girls. But, her plans were ruined.
"Hi,can I sit here?" a guy asked. Mari held back the drool. "Yes...you can" she said oh too quickly. The boy sat down and began to eat. Mari looked him up and down. He had black hair and onyx eyes. His shirt was a long sleeved black t-shirt covered by a leather jacket. He wore skinny jeans with a bunch of chains attached. He put his hand through his hair, which mad him look so hot Mari nearly fainted, and turned to Mari. "Uh...nice hair. Brown with blond streaks. Cool" he stated, pointing to her head. "Thanks. They're not streaks, they're natural highlights. Big difference," Mari breathed, "and I like your hair too. Shoulder length seems to be 'in' these days." The boy listened to every single word, which was a total first in Mari's world. "What's your name?" Mari asked. "...Lawson. Lawson Smith. Your Mari, right?" Lawson said. "Yes...how'd you know?" she asked. "Your my new neighbor. And here's a tip: don't walk around in dirt without shoes," Lawson stated. Mari looked at his pale face every once in a while. "I guess your right..."Mari stated. Lawson looked up. "Um..would you like some CHEESE with that wine? cheese_whine You really know how to bring a guy down." Mari laughed at his statement.

Mari didn't think her day would be this smooth. She was pleased to get walked home by Lawson. It was really fun, even if they didn't exchange words. She really liked him, even if it was much too soon. She had made a friend. It ultimately pleased her when he kissed her cheek when they reached her house. That made flutters in her stomache. Even if it was just a friendly thing.

After two weeks, Mari had a feeling she was falling in love for the first time. But like I always say, when you fall it's hard to get back up. SHe had learned that she was Lawson's only friend. She wanted to keep that title, forever. She didn't want Lawson to slip through her hands. Not like Paul. NO. She already knew that Lawson and Paul were much different.
