• Showa Hans was one of the most revered and most hated people in all of Jentation city. He was a hero, he was a villain. Showa Hans was a Controller. He worked with the government to capture and control all unregistered Kinetics. Wait, no. They didn't like the word capture. Controllers informed unregistered Kinetics and they influenced them to join their side. They weren't bad people, they were helping the city, keeping it safe.

He was in the middle of Jentation Plaza, staking out the festival grounds. He was Minding a few people, but no one thought anything besides the normal. I can't wait for this festival, I wonder if he'll call. Nothing to suggest, anything really. And then he saw them. They had knocked over a Neo and they were charging away from the Plaza. They looked like a gang of Flamers. This bust would get him promoted for sure. He searched their minds, all of them were thinking nearly the same thing. They wanted everything to go as planned tonight, they wanted to burn the festival.

He pulled out his phone there was a small receiver, but he couldn't use it. Instead he typed into the keypad: "Gang of Flamers, there are about seven of them. Walking towards and alley, threat very high."

They'd be taken care of once they left the civilian area. They'd be doomed to either comply or...They weren't supposed to talk about the or. He was satisfied, it's what the Flamers got. Gangs of Kinetics were usually inconspicuous, but these guys? The had red Neo hair, and tattoos of fire on their bodies. What were Controllers suppose to think?

He didn't want to think about what would happen to these rebellious teenagers. He then turned his attention to the small Neo who had since stood up. She was just worried about going home, nothing unusual. He leaned back against a wall as his phone rang.

"Jay! It's Arnold!" An Icer and one of his best friend, "Heard about the Flamer bust. Just got word to follow them until they leave the area. This should be... Fun."

"Yeah, Arnnie." He thought smiling into the phone sending the message to his long-time friend using his power, his skill. As a Minder, he couldn't talk on the phone but hearing his friends voice, it was easier to talk to him through the mind, "Don't have too much fun while I'm stuck with grunt duty."

"Don't worry, Jay, You'll be outta there soon. A bust like this? You'll be int he big league."

And that's what he wanted, right?

Hewas fine scanning the minds of people around him. It was nothing new, nothing out of the ordinary. It was everything people were worried about? Did he like me? Do I look fat in this? The occasional perverted thought or something. Showa found that when no one could keep secrets from you, it was very difficult to get interested in anything, anyone. He rubbed his hands through his hair. He took a deep breath.

He wanted to stop this, it was boring, and though there were bound to be a few Kinetics who came to check out the festival, there were two other Minders around here. He could really just go home. But those weren't his orders, he was ordered to stay and keep the city safe. That was his job. He protected everything. He controlled everything.

He shook his head, his thoughts drifting away from the Plaza. He remembered when he could talk, when he couldn't hear the voices in his head, when we didn't have to send people messages in their heads. It was when he was in the 8th grade that he first started to lose his ability to speak. And when he started high school he could hear voices. He was 14 when he was 'encouraged' to join the section of government made for Kinetics.

He shook the thoughts from his head. For being able to see everything, he really couldn't control his own thoughts very well. He didn't like to think about the past, after all, it was the past.
