• Two days later I had to go back to work, the break was over, and I wouldn't be able to spend the whole day with Nicholas, until the weekend or I take the day off. But the weekend is almost five days away. I can only see him after is over.
I sighed and looked lazily at the computer screen.
    "Sam!" Said my boss cheerfully.
I spun around, afraid he was going to scorn me for lazing off. "Yes, sir?"
He smiled. "It's good to have you back. I was sort of confused to have that boy calling you in sick. Saying that he needed you to stay there for personal and family reasons. So... What was the problem? Did one of your family members pass away?"
I shook my head, smiling in relief. "Oh, no, sir. It was just one of my friends. He was... having some family problems, so I donated to help him out. That's all." I say waving my hand.
He smiled proudly. "That's why I like you, Sam. You care more about everyone else then yourself. It's admirable." He said putting his hands on his large stomach, like Santa would if he was laughing.
It looked like he had gained weight while I was away... Hm... Maybe his wifes cooking was filled with extra fat and butter because of the holidays... I think. I beamed. "Thank you, sir. It means a lot to hear you say that."
He nodded and handed me a folder. "I want you to take this mans novel. I'm sure you'll take great interest in this one, Sam."
I cocked an eyebrow and opened it. "Why's that, sir?"
He grinned proudly. "You'll see. Open the file." He said pointing the blank peice of paper covering a butt loud of neatly typed sentences and chapters of my next writer.
I took off the blank peice of paper and gasped. "She lives in New York!?"
He laughed. "Of course. Where else did you think she lived?"
I shrugged and felt blank for words. "I... Just... Thank you, sir." I say looking down at the cover of the manuscript in total shock.
"It's just the few begining chapters, so don't too excited, okay? She's stubborn and takes forever to finish her stories. So you'll need a lot of patients with her, okay Sam?"
The writer I was so excited to be working for was my favorite. She captivated my heart by first sentence of her first book. She was the very person that inspired me to become a editor. Her name was Sarah Ellins. {Just made up a name. This is not a real writer!} She had writen so many of my favorites. I was always first in line to buy her new book. Though she was never at any of the signings she was supposed to be at. So I was disapointed about that, but I would always tell myself: 'At least I got her new book!'
My boss walked away. "I leave you to it then, Sam."
I nodded and began reading vigorously over her new story.
Oh my god... I'm the first to be reading her story! I realize with a shudder. Well... The begining anyway...

After I finished her book I wanted to read it again. But the work day was over, and I needed to go home to Nicholas. So that realization put a large spring in my step.
As I walked out the door with my manuscript I was confronted by one of my female co-workers.
    She grinned. "Going home?"
I nodded and tried to get past her, but she got in my way. "Yeah... I have someone waiting for me." I say.
She tilted her head. "Oh? You have a girlfriend now?"
I sighed and tried to get past her, but I was blocked again. "I wouldn't call him a girlfriend."
She gasped. "What!?" She covered her mouth in shock. "Your gay!?"
I glared at her. "Yes. Now get out of my way. He's waiting for me and can be very impatient sometimes." I grumble.
    {S***. I'm sorry. I forgot about my apointment with the doctor. I have to go, sorry.}
