• ~Chapter 1~ heart

Girl blinked her normal opaque eyes and warily watched the people in front of her. What had possesed her to jump on the Adult train? She ducked her colorless head as a Anima passed by; they tended to have animal instincts and if one smelled her, she'd get tossed off of the train. Golden tiger eyes flashed her way and she stiffended, but no, he was looking behind her. That was much, much too close.

Which brought her back to her main delima.

What on earth had she been thinking?! She'd been thinking that walking to the school was far too far, so why not catch the train? It was just too bad she got on the wrong one. Girl sighed and hunched in on herself, hoping she'd be less noticable that way.

The train jerked to a stop, some stilted voice announcing that 'hey, we're here, you can leave now' and Girl gratefully hopped off, rushing into the crowd before she was spotted.
It wasn't like she'd get thrown in jail.

    She hoped.

But when everyone else around you was able to , say, light fires with a wink, or heal with a word, being normal didn't have any appeal. Her mother's voice, Gaia, popped into her head, whispering that 'she would develop, and the longer it took for powers to come, the greater they would be'. Girl Wryly thought that she'd rather have them now, thank you very much.

As Girl navigated the crowded streets, her thoughts leapt to the reason she had risked the train to get to school. True, it really was a long walk, but they were to have a guest today, a special speaker. If Girl remembered right, whoever it was had a really amazing talent, unique in the world of the powerful.

Her mind leapt to many possiblities. Would they be a Necromancer? Or maybe a Dhampir? Girl thought she would absolutely die if they turned out to be a metamorphisis. That was the power she'd wish for herself, if she had a choice.

Girl, now so lost in her thoughts, lost track of the real world and managed to bump into to several people, who saw her short colorless hair and light eyes and let it be. A Baby could be excused from some things; walking distracted was one of them.

And it was as she was bumping into people distractedly that she bumped into and fell on a stranger's lap.

Girl yelped as she fell, hands splaying out to catch the brunt of the force. She hit the ground with a grunt and groan of pain.

    "Hey, Baby, are you okay?"

Girl winced at the title and nodded. Quickly dusting herself off, she stood and offered the person her apologies.

"It's fine; just keep your head in the present, yeah?" Girl, feeling brave, glanced up into the grayest eyes she'd ever seen. She blinked and openly looked at him. He wore a smart black suit with a blue and grey striped tie. His shoes were shiny. The greatest symbol of his status, was the long silver hair cascading down his back. Girl gulped; Had she bumped into someone important?!

The crowd around them didn't seem to be upset with a Baby for making such a fuss in the middle of the street; she relaxed.

The man smiled and nodded. "Be careful, Baby. There are people less kind than I walking around." Girl apologised again, gave him a grateful "Thank You, Ta-Man", the formal way to say anything to an Adult Man with Status, and ran in the opposite direction without a backwards glance.

She just hoped she'd never see the Ta-Men again. Imagine the embarrestment!
