ABOVE THE SUN
UC Poika
As the sun above the overcast day shines
A future abides above this confusion of mine,
A puppy sort of future with a long wet tongue
Or a kitten clinging there mewing out its lungs
Type of time to come like a baby new year
Or a long awaited kiss amid all the cheers
Heard the rest of my life, bundled with love
Like a present that Destiny gives as a pair of gloves
Or more like a pair of socks at Christmastime
Except it’s wrapped in what sounds like chapel chimes,
But maybe the future favors another more
And opens to a space with several unopened doors
At the end of a long hallway that’s flooded with light
With its exits leading to thankfulness for all life’s sites!
