»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»role play example » For the total of ten years of his life since he had joined as Chief Medical officer, he never felt more alone. It was only recently when he noticed the strange attitudes of the people around him. Even his own nurses had been acting unusually, and he couldn’t help but be somewhat disturbed. Perhaps he had been too busy to notice before. The rate of patients in his section had grown over the past few days. McCoy had regarded it as the flu, but had begun to think differently when even Spock had started showing signs. The crew became far quieter than before, muttering things to themselves, and not even responding when he questioned them. It seemed too sudden. It had to be that planet.

The USS Enterprise had been on a recon mission above the planet, dubbed Zevan III. It had odd familiar grounds of another planet they had visited not that long ago. McCoy recalled how everyone, himself included had gotten hyped up on a ‘happy pill’ drug. It had been produced from the spores of the strange flora. And now, it seemed this planet, held the same principle, except in reverse.

He hadn’t contracted the virus since the Captain had deployed the head nurse down with the first landing party. McCoy had been grateful for the change of pace. Now it seemed like it had been a fatal mistake.

Now, alone in the medical bay, McCoy tapped his fingers together tentatively as his eyes scanned the medical data read outs, his brows furrowed together. “….it isn’t the planetary life down there…” Finding a way to counter act this virus could be the same method from that other case. Instead of anger, need, and wanting; perhaps the use of happiness could apply. Then again, that was speculation. Leonard McCoy wasn’t a man to dwell on speculation, that was Jim. He also couldn’t rely on logic, as everything that came to mind led to illogical conclusions. It was unsettling. “Damnit.” He cursed underneath his breath.

He had gone through the data from the first landing party before they had contracted the virus. Nothing had been found to be out of the ordinary….except. His brows rose in surprise, or rather realization. Tapping the viewing screen of the data pad, McCoy brought up the report, “…Nurse Chapel found wild mushrooms and scanned them to be harmless……The mushrooms could be the key, or just a shot in the dark…”
