"goodnight mom, goodnight dad," I say with a kiss before I lay my head down. As they walk out dad stops as if something is wrong. "Honey," he begins. 'yes, dad?" I answer " I just want you to know me and your mother love you very much and everything that happens, happens for a reason. You will always be in my heart and I will always be calling for you." Then he went into my extra closet and brought out a lader for climbing to the ground if there was a fire. He set it by the window. "What is this for?" "Just in case" he answers turning off the light and shutting the door. I sit up for a minute and think "why is he acting so strange?" then I lay back down and fall into the world of Dreams.
2 o'clock A.M
I tumble out of bed rolling up my sleeves. I rub my eyes and walk to the door. "Man, it sure is hot," I say to myself I touch the nob and feel a pain strike up my arm. "Oh it's hot," I say more awake. I lay on the floor and look through the tiny crack at the bottom of the door. I can see flames. I look around the room in panic. I can feel the room growing warmer and warmer. I grab the sheets off the bed and wrap them around me. Then I see the emergency ladder. I run to the window and throw the lader down the window. Then I climb down into our open backyard. Sparky, our dog is running in circles. I grab him and run to the front of the house to see that the fire was bigger than I thought it was and firemen were already trying to put the fire out. I run through the blocking out the noises of people gasping to see I was alive. Then I crash into someone. It is a firewomen. She asks me " are you April?" I nod quickly and try to escape but she holds onto my hair and pulls me back. "Your going to have to come with me." "No," I say "I have to find my parents!" The firewomen frowns and says something, but I couldn't understand her. "Excuse me?" "Your parents they um, well, lets just say they didn't make it out. I stand there staring into the womens eyes. I can feel tears running down my cheek. I fall into her arms bursting out crying. I will never see my parents again. Never. What am I going to do.
