• Chapter 1

The weekend was about over and tomorrow was the first day of freshman year. I was dreading this day ever since my parents told Annie and me would be going to a boarding school. Annie is my twin sister. She’s the prettier, popular twin. We are actually very identical, but by the way her and I dress, it looks as if we’re from two separate planets! We’re pretty close sisters and love each other, but it’s hard to fill in time for each other when we’re from two different social groups. We promised each other this year though that we would interact more with each other. We even agreed to be each other’s roommate.
So here we are at Mackenzie Academy. We had to catch a plane just to get here. We had to leave all our friends and family behind just to go to some boarding school. You would think a girl like me with a 4.0 grade point average would love to go to a rich, smart school, but could you be any more wrong?! I wanted nothing to do with that school! Of course, it would look good on my college application that I went to Mackenzie Academy, one of the top schools in America, but I would rather go to some trashy high school where my friends go to than some rich, snotty kids school!
In case you were still trying to figure out, my name is Claire, Claire Ryan. The younger, smarter twin. The ‘nerdy’ one.
I was about done unpacking in my dorm room and Annie was waiting for me so we could get a frozen yogurt together in the Cafeteria.
“Ok, I think I’m done. Ready to go?” I asked her.
“I am, but not you. Remember you promised that you would wear more ‘stylish’ clothes when we got here? Well, we’re here and you have to change now into those $300 worth of clothes we shopped for you to wear here!”
I looked down at my clothes and sure enough I still had on my plaid knee-lengthed skirt with my white polo collared shirt and comfortable black flats with high white socks on. I shrugged and said, “ What’s wrong with what I’m wearing? We’re just going to get frozen yogurt. And it’s 10 P.M. You really think there would be people in the Caf. at this time?”
“Fine. Whatever. But tomorrow you’re wearing those new clothes or else,” she threatened.
I nervously laughed because I knew when Annie means business, she MEANS BUSINESS! She defiantly kept her threats.
When we had gotten our frozen yogurts, we headed back to our dorm. As I was walking, clumsy ol’ me, tripped over thin air and threw frozen yogurt all over some guy, dropping the cup on the floor.
“Hey! What was that for?!” he shouted at me.

“I’m sorry. It was an accident,” I said to him, picking up the cup from the floor. When I stood up, I looked at the guy more closely. He was about 5”7, dark black hair, intense blue eyes. Eh...he looked like any other rich snob. But defiantly no prep.
He scoffed, “An accident? You basically threw at me!”
This guy was a jerk! Couldn’t he have just said ‘no problem’ and leave?!
“I’m clumsy ok!? Geez!” I screamed back at him.
“Ha, fine! But don’t think I’m letting this go. You’re on my list,” he said walking past me. He had frozen yogurt on his hand and PURPOSELY flicked some at me.
“Whoops,” he smirked and then just walked away.
“WHAT A JERK!” I screamed when he was out of earshot. That was my new white polo shirt. Now it was my new STAINED red/white polo shirt!
Annie laughed, “Yeah, but he was a HOT jerk!”
I just gave her a ‘are-you-crazy?’ look and said, “Whatever. What did he mean by ‘list’ anyway?” I laughed remembering his threat.
“I don’t know. Maybe the ‘revenge’ list. You know, the people he has to get back at.”
I just smirked and said, “Well, I’ll be ready.” And with that, we headed to our dorm without another word.
